Solder Paste

What Is Solder Paste?

Solder paste is a substance utilized for attaching electronic components to printed circuit boards (PCBs).

Consisting primarily of fine solder powder and flux — an essential additive — this paste facilitates electrical connections at component junctions. Its application involves placing components on the PCB, then heating to melt the paste and cooling to solidify, ensuring components are firmly attached.

Made of metals like tin (Sn), silver (Ag), and copper (Cu), solder paste often also includes lead (Pb). However, due to environmental and health concerns, lead-free variants are available, omitting lead from their composition.
