What Is a Metal Bushing?
A metal bushing is a cylindrical metal component designed for connecting threaded parts to a pipe.
These bushings are available in various specifications to match the material and size of the pipe, as well as the standards of the threaded component. Common applications include using them with adjuster bolts to level workbenches or attaching casters to the base legs of equipment.
The design of a metal bushing typically features one end that is flared to accommodate the thread, while the narrower end is inserted into the pipe. The bushing is secured in place by hooking onto the flared base. It’s important to note that the terms ‘bushing’ or ‘bush’ can also refer to circular or tubular bearings used as cushioning materials. Consequently, metal bearings without threaded holes are sometimes also referred to as metal bushings.
