Electric Circular Saw

What Is an Electric Circular Saw?

Electric Circular SawsAn electronic circular saw is a cutting tool used mainly for cutting woodworking materials. The structure of the saw involves attaching a disk-shaped saw blade called a “chip saw” to a rotating shaft, powered by a motor.

A similar type of saw is the electric circular saw, but it uses constant power to cut. As a result, the rotation speed drops when a load is applied. On the other hand, the electric circular saw cuts at a constant speed regardless of the load, resulting in a clean-cut surface. In addition, an electric circular saw is designed to be lightweight and compact. It can be used by a wide range of people, including women and the elderly.

Uses of Electric Circular Saws

Electric circular saws are often used for furniture and interior work because they cut materials straight and have a clean-cut surface. For example, the cross-section is the key to the smoothness of drawers.

They are also used for applications that require cutting precision, such as the structure of housing.

By changing the material of the chip saw, a wide range of materials can be used.

Plastic and steel can be cut, as well as siding, blocks, and bricks.
Electric circular saws are also used for angled cutting.

How to Choose Electric Circular Saws

  • Basic Design
Select the size of the maximum depth of cut that is appropriate for the material to be cut.
The basic saw blade size for a circular saw is 6.5″ in diameter. This size is sufficient for cutting general materials. However, if you need to cut thicker materials, choose a larger size.
In addition, depending on the user’s physique and the nature of the work, selecting a saw blade from the standpoint of lightness and ease of handling will reduce fatigue and make the work safer.
  • Chip Saw (Saw Blade) Material
A wide range of materials is available, and there is a wide variety in use depending on the application. For general wood cutting, inexpensive carbon tool steel can be used without any problem. However, since it wears out quickly, carbide tips are generally used.
If the material to be cut is hard, it is necessary to switch to a cutting wheel or diamond wheel.
Also, the number of blades usually consists of 50 cutting tips. However, if you want to finish the cross section more neatly, it is preferable to use a type with a larger number of blades.
  • Power Source
There are corded and rechargeable circular saws, but the corded type is recommended for long-term use. On the other hand, when moving around a large area for remodeling, etc., the rechargeable type is preferable.
  • Ancillary Equipment
Although not directly involved in cutting, there are ancillary facilities that enhance workability and safety. For example, lights that illuminate the cutting area and serve as a guide, and blowers that blow away chips. Both of these are expensive, but they are expected to be effective.

Circular saw-type power tools generate a lot of noise and vibration on materials and arms when cutting. However, there are also types that suppress these effects.
