Video Display Terminal

What Is a Video Display Terminal?

A video display terminal is a connector used to link display devices such as monitors or screens to video output devices like computers or gaming consoles.

Its operational principle involves transmitting either digital or analog signals. Digital signals carry processed video data directly from the computer, providing high-quality images with strong resistance to noise. On the other hand, analog signals convert video data into voltage for transmission, offering compatibility with older devices but potentially lower image quality compared to digital signals.

These terminals are commonly used for connecting computers to monitors, gaming consoles to televisions, or projectors to computers. Examples of video display terminals include HDMI, DVI, VGA, DisplayPort, and USB Type-C, each with its own set of features and characteristics.
