Square Fuse

What Is a Square Fuse?

A square fuse is a protective device designed to prevent overcurrent in an electrical circuit.

It derives its name from its square shape. Mainly used in distribution panels and electrical devices, its operational principle involves the fuse wire melting and interrupting the current when it exceeds the rated current.

In the event of overcurrent in distribution panels or electrical devices, the internal fusible element enclosed in the outer casing of the square fuse melts, interrupting the current flow. In distribution panels, it is employed in branch circuits of the power supply, while in electrical devices, it is utilized within the internal circuits.

The mechanism of a square fuse comprises an outer casing, fusible element, and contacts. Noteworthy features include high durability, allowing for prolonged use, and easy replacement. Regular checks of the rated current and periodic replacements are crucial, ensuring the safety of the electrical circuit.
