What Is a Wood Router?
Wood routers are power tools used for various woodworking processes, such as chamfering and groove cutting. At the tip of each router, there is a blade called a bit. By rotating this bit, wood routers shave and process the wood. There are several types of bits available, which can be interchanged based on the specific task.
Similar tools known as trimmers exist, sharing a nearly identical structure with wood routers. However, wood routers generally have more power and weight, allowing for greater versatility in bit accommodation. Trimmers, being lighter and easier to handle, offer a higher rotation speed suitable for precision work.
Additionally, there are pen-type small routers, or mini routers, designed for detailed applications like cutting fine grooves. These mini routers are commonly used for tasks like polishing and carving.
