Escape Respirator

What Is an Escape Respirator?

Escape respirators are breathing apparatus designed for use in emergencies. They are employed during evacuations from areas where harmful substances, such as toxic gases, are present due to disasters. Escape respirators are categorized into two types: atmosphere-dependent and self-contained.

Atmosphere-dependent respirators are equipped with a filter and function by drawing air through this filter. Their effectiveness is contingent upon the concentration of harmful substances in the air not exceeding certain limits. This type of respirator is mainly suitable for short-duration evacuations.

Self-contained respirators, on the other hand, continuously supply air from a pressurized air pack. They are ideal for situations with high concentrations of harmful substances or where oxygen is scarce. This type is primarily used for long-duration evacuations.
