Drum Screens

What Is a Drum Screen?

A drum screen is a mechanical device specifically engineered for separating solids from liquids.

It consists of a cylindrical drum that, when in operation, receives a fluid mixed with solid particles. The drum is equipped with a mesh or slit-shaped screen filter on its surface, which retains the solid particles while allowing the liquid to pass through. This process underlines the core mechanism of solid-liquid separation achieved by drum screens.

The efficiency of separation can be adjusted by varying the drum’s rotation speed and altering the mesh size of the screen filter. Although structurally simple, drum screens are vital in handling large volumes of wastewater and aiding in drainage, thereby playing an essential role in water treatment facilities.
