Rainwater Filtration System

What Is a Rainwater Filtration System?

A rainwater filtration system is a device that temporarily holds rainwater to prevent flood damage.

There are different types of rainwater filtration systems, but the most common type is installed underground. This makes it possible to make effective use of land. There are no restrictions on construction on the land.

Uses of Rainwater Filtration Systems

Because of the importance of flood control measures, rainwater filtration systems are used in all kinds of facilities.

Principle of Rainwater Filtration Systems

Rainwater filtration systems are large tanks that collect rainwater and gradually release it in a regulated manner. Types are classified according to the shape of the tank.

Open Type

This is a method of installing a large empty tank. Instead of burying the tank completely underground, a portion of the tank appears above ground. Concrete is used as the material of the tank.

Maintenance is easy because the amount of water stored is visible. This type was common in the past. However, due to the following disadvantages, the underground type is now more popular.

The first disadvantage is the garbage problem. A bad odor problem has arisen due to illegal dumping into the tank. In addition to illegal dumping, the generation of bad odor due to water pollution also became a problem.

The second disadvantage is safety. The danger of children and animals falling into the tank has been pointed out.

Underground Type

This is a method in which blocks with holes are installed underground. Water is stored temporarily in the holes in the blocks. Plastic is used as the material for the tank.

Since the tank is completely buried underground, it is possible to improve odor and fall hazards. The land can also be used effectively.
