What Is an Industrial Waste Compactor?
An industrial waste compactor is a device that reduces the volume of waste and other materials, making them easier to transport or to secure a volume for storage.
There are devices that have a mechanism to classify the object to be compressed, devices with functions such as packaging the compressed items, and devices specialized for empty cans, PET bottles, and styrofoam.
There are methods such as pressing by hydraulic pressure, compressing by high-torque gears, and applying heat to melt and reduce the volume.
Uses of Industrial Waste Compactors
Industrial waste compactors are used in waste disposal facilities, collection points, waste processing departments in various manufacturing plants, garbage trucks, etc.
Industrial waste compactors are used for general refuse, plastic bottles, empty cans, styrofoam, cardboard, etc. When selecting an industrial waste compactor, it is necessary to consider the volume reduction ratio, whether the equipment is suitable for the object to be reduced, size, power consumption, and speed at which the volume can be reduced.
Additional options such as heat, classification, cleaning, packaging, etc. should also be considered.
Principle of Industrial Waste Compactors
The industrial waste compactor consists of a conveying section and a volume reduction section.
In the conveying section, products are transported by rollers or extruders. Depending on the product, it may need to be transported manually or by forklift.
In the volume reduction section, the volume is reduced by hydraulic presses or by the compression force of gears connected to high-torque motors.
Since the volume reduction of empty cans and PET bottles includes the intention to recycle them, many of them are equipped with mechanisms to remove impurities and wash them at the same time.
In the case of removing impurities, there are mechanisms, such as washing with water, blowers, or slits for removing fine impurities, over which the object to be reduced passes while vibrating. When reducing the volume of styrene foam, many products are equipped with a heating unit because styrene foam has a low melting point and melts when heated.
When reducing the volume of corrugated cardboard, some products are equipped with a mechanism that melts, compresses, and dries the corrugated cardboard by mixing a solvent that dissolves the corrugated cardboard.
