Slide Hammer

What Is a Slide Hammer?

A slide hammer is a specialized tool used for driving pipes into the ground, commonly in agricultural settings such as supporting structures for greenhouses. This hammer has a striking part fixed in the middle of the pipe’s outer surface. It slides along the pipe’s surface and is manually moved up and down to drive the pipe into the ground.

The design of the slide hammer ensures that the end of the pipe does not get crushed during the process. Its placement in the middle of the pipe allows for effective use on even long pipes, ensuring stability and ease of use.

Uses of Slide Hammers

Slide hammers are primarily used in agriculture for hammering support poles into the ground. They are especially useful in environments where height is restricted, such as in greenhouses. Besides agricultural applications, slide hammers are also employed for installing fences to protect against birds and animals, erecting monorail poles for crop transportation, and setting up fence posts and lashing poles along field roads.

The slide hammer’s striking portion is composed of two pieces that can be attached to the middle of a pipe and secured with a bolt. The hammer section is designed to open and close with a clamp, facilitating light up-and-down movement during use.
