Noise Barrier

What Is an Acoustic Panel?

An acoustic panel is a panel-shaped board designed to reduce noise. They come in various types, each serving different noise reduction purposes. These include surrounding a sound source with acoustic panels to dampen the noise, using temporary panels at construction sites to suppress noise propagation, installing permanent outdoor panels to prevent noise spread, and using indoor panels to improve acoustical properties in spaces like partitions.

The construction of acoustic panels typically involves a sound-absorbing layer and a sound-insulating layer, along with surface components and fixation elements. Materials such as polyester fiber, felt board and glass wool are used for sound absorption, while sound insulation sheets, corrosion-resistant steel sheets, and aluminum plates are employed for sound insulation.

Uses of Acoustic Panels

Acoustic panels are selected based on the intended purpose and environment. In transportation, they are used for noise reduction along highways and train tracks. For road construction and building sites, they enclose noisy equipment like engines, generators, and air compressors. In buildings, they enhance acoustical properties in music halls, auditoriums, and classrooms, and are also used in movable partitions.
