The structure consists of two methoxyethyl groups linked by an ether bond, derived from diethyleneglycol methylation.

Uses of Diglyme

Primarily used as a solvent, diglyme’s high boiling point and chelating ability make it suitable for chemical reactions involving metal compounds, such as Grignard reagents and metal hydrides, enhancing reaction rates. Additionally, it serves as a solvent for photoresists and in the manufacturing of integrated circuit boards, particularly for coating silicon wafers in semiconductor production.
