Coaxial Termination

What Is a Coaxial Termination?

A coaxial termination is a device designed to be affixed to the end of a coaxial cable, aiming to eliminate signal reflections and enhance the quality of signal transmission.

Coaxial cables transmit signals via a central conductor surrounded by an outer conductor. At the cable’s end, unwanted reflections can degrade signal integrity. Coaxial terminations mitigate this by absorbing reflected signals, thereby reducing signal loss and distortion.

These components find broad applications in TV antenna systems, signal splitters, telecommunications, and instrumentation. Varieties of coaxial terminations include resistive, short-circuit, and impedance-matching types, each tailored to specific absorption mechanisms and impedance requirements to optimize signal fidelity.
