Backplane Connector

What Is a Backplane Connector?

A backplane connector is an essential component in electronic devices, designed to interconnect multiple circuit boards within a system. It facilitates the seamless transmission of signals across boards by linking connector pins to corresponding sockets.

Backplane connectors are categorized into two main types: mechanical and pressure-contact. Mechanical connectors, known for their simplicity and cost-effectiveness, are widely used for basic connections. On the other hand, pressure-contact connectors offer more robust and reliable connections, making them ideal for applications that demand high reliability.

These connectors find extensive use in servers, where they connect CPUs, memory, and storage boards; in network equipment, linking LAN cards, switches, and routers; and in industrial machinery. Their application significantly enhances data processing speeds, network performance, and system scalability.
