kWh Energy Meter

What Is a kWh Energy Meter?

A kWh energy meter is a device used to measure electricity consumption.

It is based on the unit of kilowatt-hour (kWh), which represents the power consumption of one kilowatt-hour. Comprising of three main elements: an ammeter, a voltmeter, and an integrator, its operating principle involves measuring the product of current and voltage to calculate the amount of electrical energy consumed.

Widely used in homes, offices, factories, and more, it contributes to electricity billing, power usage management, and energy-saving measures. There are two main types: mechanical and electronic. In mechanical meters, power consumption is calculated by measuring the rotation of gears or rotors, while in electronic meters, it is measured electronically.

Key features of kWh energy meters include the ability to measure electrical energy consumption, used for electricity billing and power usage management. They are widely utilized across various fields and are indispensable in our daily lives. When using, meter reading and repairs should be entrusted to specialized utility companies, and tampering with or modifying meters is prohibited.
