Low-Pass Filter

What Is a Low-Pass Filter?

A low-pass filter is designed to allow signals with frequencies below a specified cutoff frequency to pass through while attenuating those with higher frequencies. This selective filtering is crucial in managing the frequency spectrum of a signal.

Such filters are extensively used in audio equipment to eliminate high-frequency noise and hum. In electronic devices, they are instrumental in reducing signal distortion. Additionally, in the realm of communication equipment, low-pass filters enhance signal transmission quality.

There are two primary types of low-pass filters: analog and digital. Analog low-pass filters, which handle analog signals, are built using components like resistors, capacitors, and inductors. Digital low-pass filters, on the other hand, are tailored for digital signals and are constructed using digital circuitry.
