What Is a Trackball?
A trackball is a pointing device used in computers and various electronic devices.
Different from a traditional mouse, a trackball moves the cursor through the rotation of a ball, which users manipulate with their fingers or palms. This allows the cursor to move in all directions: up, down, left, and right. Clicking and scrolling functions are facilitated by buttons and a scroll wheel on the trackball itself.
An advantage of the trackball is its minimal need for desk space. Unlike mice that require ample flat surface area for movement, a trackball remains stationary, making it ideal for use in constrained workspaces.
