Slip on Flange

What Is a Slip-On Flange?

A slip-on flange is a pivotal component in the construction and maintenance of piping systems, serving as a means to connect pipes, valves, pumps, and other equipment seamlessly. Characterized by its flat, circular design, this type of flange is engineered to slide over the end of a pipe or tube, facilitating a secure and efficient assembly process.

The design principle of the slip-on flange involves a slightly larger inner diameter than the pipe’s outer diameter it intends to join. This design allows for the pipe to be easily inserted into the flange. Subsequent welding around the base of the flange ensures a tight and durable seal, effectively integrating the pipe into the system.

For added versatility and ease of maintenance, slip-on flanges are typically bolted together with nuts and bolts. This bolting mechanism simplifies the process of disassembling or reconfiguring the piping system, making slip-on flanges particularly useful in scenarios requiring regular modifications, maintenance, or inspections.
