Liquid Nitrogen Dewar

What Is a Liquid Nitrogen Dewar?

Liquid nitrogen dewar is a container designed for the storage and transport of liquid nitrogen.

To maintain the extremely low temperature of liquid nitrogen, it is typically constructed with a double-walled insulated design. Liquid nitrogen is poured into the inner chamber, while the outer chamber is insulated from the atmosphere. This construction effectively preserves the internal temperature, minimizing the evaporation of liquid nitrogen. The inner container is made of corrosion-resistant, inert metals or alloys such as stainless steel or aluminum. The outer container is crafted from vacuum-insulating materials like foam glass or foam plastic.

While liquid nitrogen dewars commonly have a cylindrical shape, variations include square or rectangular designs for stacking purposes and tank-shaped configurations for storing large quantities of liquid nitrogen.
