What Is Dimension Measurement?
Dimension measurement involves using specialized instruments and devices to measure the dimensions of parts and products. This process ensures that parts and products conform to their design specifications at various production stages, including during processing, post-processing, and final inspection.
The tools employed in dimension measurement range from calipers and micrometers, which measure length, thickness, and depth, to advanced devices that use image processing to capture and automatically calculate the dimensions of parts and products.
According to JIS Z 8103 Measurement Terminology, measurement is defined as “the expression of a quantity by comparing it with a reference quantity, represented in numerical values or symbols.”
