What Is a Diverter Valve?
A diverter valve is a specialized valve used to split a water line into two separate directions.
In most diverter valves, water can only be directed in one path at a time, meaning that it isn’t possible to supply water in both directions simultaneously. Many diverter valves are also equipped with a check valve to prevent the backflow of water, ensuring a more efficient and safer water supply system. When the valve is closed, it ceases the flow of water to the branched path.
While diverter valves can be installed independently, it is often advisable to consult or hire a professional plumber for installation. This approach helps prevent potential issues and ensures the system functions correctly.
