Nylon Bushing

What Is a Nylon Bushing?

A nylon bushing, made from nylon resin (polyamide), is a fixture used to reduce friction between piping and its connection points.

Notable for its excellent wear resistance, lubricity, and chemical resistance, nylon bushings are particularly effective in applications where they double as a lubricant. These bushings commonly act as bearings for rotating shafts, thereby reducing friction and enhancing the efficiency of machinery. Their ability to generate minimal static electricity makes them suitable for rotating parts in electrical equipment. As a lightweight material, nylon also helps in reducing the overall weight of mechanical components, which can be beneficial for improving fuel efficiency, especially in vehicle engine components.

While the typical operational temperature range of nylon bushings spans from -40 °C to 120 °C, it is important to note that they may exhibit limitations in high-temperature or high-load environments.
