What Are PVC Sheets?
PVC sheets are sheets made of polyvinyl chloride.
Polyvinyl chloride is often abbreviated as PVC, vinyl, or vinyl chloride. It is a polymer compound (chloroethene polymer) obtained by the polymerization reaction of vinyl chloride (chloroethylene), and is a type of synthetic resin with the chemical formula (C2H3Cl)n.
The chemical name is chloroethene polymer, and it is a processed product of an existing chemical substance registered under CAS No. 9002-86-2.
Uses of PVC Sheets
PVC sheets are processed by adding additives called plasticizers to change their flexibility and other properties into soft vinyl chloride sheets, which are soft like cloth, and rigid vinyl chloride sheets, which are used for hard surface protection.
It is a very safe and applicable material because of its resistance to solvents, water, acids, and alkalis, as well as its flame retardant properties.
Soft PVC sheets are used for hoses, tubes, automobile interior and exterior components, and clothing, etc. Corrugated sheets, rain gutters, signboards, and ducts are also made using rigid PVC sheets.
