Lock U-Channel

What Is a Lock U-Channel?

A lock U-channel is a specialized metal component designed for securing greenhouse film. It features a long, narrow rail shape with grooves on both sides. To secure the film, it’s draped over the channel, and then a spring is inserted into the grooves, clamping the film in place. The effectiveness of the lock U-channel depends on the depth of the grooves and how much the lip is folded inward; deeper grooves and more inwardly folded lips make it harder for the spring to dislodge. When securing multiple layers of film, the appropriate groove specification should be chosen.

Uses of a Lock U-Channel

Lock U-channels are primarily used in the construction of agricultural greenhouses, where they play a key role in sheeting. These channels are particularly useful in multi-layered greenhouse structures, allowing for the fixation of several sheets simultaneously.

For instance, in greenhouses designed for seedling cultivation, a double-layered structure is common. This structure typically includes one sheet for wind and rain protection and another for sun protection. Both sheets can be fixed securely using the lock U-channel. Additionally, special joints are available to connect the lock U-channel to pipes in a cross manner, enhancing the structural integrity of the greenhouse. Modifications at the end of the lock U-channel spring can also be made to attach a mica wire. The use of lock U-channels significantly streamlines the assembly process of greenhouses.
