Magbore Drill

What Is a Magbore Drill?

A Magbore drill is a specialized drilling machine used primarily for drilling and threading holes in steel or steel plates. They feature a magnetized base, allowing the work stand to be securely and flexibly attached to steel materials, thus improving workability and versatility in various locations.

Applications of Magbore Drills

These drills are ideal for drilling holes in the sidewalls of complexly shaped steel structures and for drilling and tapping on metal plates that are difficult to transport. Magbore drills can also function as conventional drilling machines, enhancing their utility in diverse settings.

A range of models is available, from simple hand-cranked, handheld models to electric versions designed for high-speed, repetitive work. This variety allows users to select the model that best fits their specific needs.

Principle of Magbore Drills

The key feature of Magbore drills is their magnetic base, which comes in two types: electromagnetic and permanent magnet. The suction part of the base is typically round, facilitating drilling in thin metal plates with the use of a backing material.

Models vary from hand-cranked to motorized and ratchet types, each equipped with a magnetic adsorption part. Many models offer tool conversion capability, switching from drills for drilling to tappers for screwing, making them versatile and sometimes referred to as Magtap.

Designed for any environment, certain models of Magbore drills are compact, lightweight, and portable. Their ability to attach not only to flat surfaces but also to sides makes them particularly convenient for a variety of work scenarios.
