Trolley

What Is a Trolley?

TrolleysA trolley is a fixture attached to overhead running rails. It is used to suspend chain blocks and other items, connecting them to cargo for horizontal transportation along the rails. Trolleys are ideal for transporting heavy parts and large-volume products, offering stable movement. The trolley model suitable for installation depends on the rail shape, such as I-shaped or H-shaped steel. Common trolley types include manual (plain trolleys), geared trolleys, electric trolleys, and pipe trolleys.

Uses of Trolleys

Trolleys are essential for transporting semi-finished products and materials in construction sites and factories. They are versatile and capable of being used where traveling rails or single pipes are installed. Trolleys excel in carrying large or heavy loads stably, making them particularly useful in construction sites for moving heavy loads in conjunction with cranes, chain blocks, hoists, and other equipment. They are also prevalent in automobile plants and similar facilities, often used for horizontal movement of hoisting machines.

Principle of Trolleys

There are several types of trolleys, each serving different needs:
Plain Trolleys: These are manually operated and used for lateral movement. They typically connect to chain blocks up to 2 to 3 tons for transportation.
Geared Trolleys: Equipped with gears, these trolleys move laterally by manually operating a chain wound around the gears. This design allows for easy fine-tuning of the trolley’s position.
Electric Trolleys: Ideal for fixed or frequently used locations where a power source is available. They are motorized and heavier than plain trolleys. Some models include current-collecting brushes.
Pipe Trolleys: These use a single pipe in the ceiling to transport cargo, combined with a hoist, pulley, or chain block. The main body is usually steel, with nylon or other resin wheels, often featuring hooks for easy attachment.
