What Is a Keycap?
A keycap is the top component of a key, mounted on a computer keyboard or any electronic device’s keyboard, that is pressed with the fingers.
Keycaps are crafted from materials such as plastic, PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), or ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), known for their durability and ability to withstand prolonged use. Moreover, some keycaps are finished with special coatings or materials to enhance grip and prevent color fading with extensive usage.
These components are designed to be attached to individual keys and are removable, enabling users to personalize their keyboard’s appearance and tactile feel.
