RFID Scanner

What Is an RFID Scanner?

An RFID scanner is a technology designed to identify and track objects or individuals through the use of radio waves. This system comprises two main components: RFID tags, tiny electronic devices attached to the items to be identified, and a reader/writer unit that communicates with these tags using radio frequency signals.

The process starts when the reader/writer emits radio waves towards the RFID tag. Upon receiving these signals, the tag responds by sending back its stored information via radio waves. The reader/writer captures this transmission, allowing it to read and process the tag’s data.

RFID scanners are crucial in various applications, including logistics and supply chain management, manufacturing, retail inventory control, patient tracking in medical facilities, library systems, and enhancing security measures. These scanners are celebrated for their non-contact reading capability, efficiency in scanning multiple tags simultaneously, and robustness. Available in various forms, RFID scanners can be handheld for flexibility, fixed for specific points of entry or exit, or gate-type for monitoring wide entrances.
