Tile Adhesive

What Is a Tile Adhesive?

Tile adhesive is a specifically formulated material used to securely attach tiles to substrates, including walls and floors. Comprising primarily cement, resin, sand, and various additives, each component is critical in the adhesive’s performance. Cement contributes to the mixture’s strength and durability, resin enhances adhesion and flexibility, and sand helps to fill any irregularities on the bonding surface, thus improving the overall adhesion. These components are mixed with water and applied to the back of the tiles. Upon drying, they create a robust adhesive film that ensures a strong bond between the tile and its substrate.

While commonly used for affixing wall and floor tiles, tile adhesive is also suitable for other applications such as tiling pools, and bathtubs, creating mosaics, and for exterior installations. Its notable features include robust adhesion for various tile materials, exceptional resistance to water and weather conditions, flexibility to accommodate the movement of tiles, and ease of use, making it a preferred choice for both professional and DIY tile installations.
