Preamplifier

What Is a Preamplifier?

A preamplifier, also known as a preamp, is a device used to amplify or convert audio signals or electrical signals.

It is also referred to as a preamplifier or head amplifier. It performs functions such as signal amplification, which involves receiving low-level signals and boosting them to larger signals, signal selection from multiple input signals, and frequency adjustment to emphasize or attenuate specific frequency bands to adjust acoustic characteristics and improve sound quality or correct specific bands.

Preamplifiers are used in audio equipment such as home audio systems, professional audio equipment, instrument amplifiers such as guitar amps or bass amps, as well as integrated into studio mixers and audio interfaces.
