What Is a Flange Thermowell?
Flange thermowells are protective tubes for temperature measurement sensors, shielding them from the process medium. They protect sensors from pressure, flow, and corrosion, enhancing measurement accuracy. The design separates the process medium from the sensor, with a filler between them. While the process medium passes through the outer section, the sensor measures temperature through the filler.
Used widely in chemical plants, petroleum refineries, power plants, and food factories, flange thermowells are crucial for measuring high-pressure, high-temperature, and corrosive media. They offer pressure resistance and durability externally, while the internal design includes suitable materials and shapes for sensor mounting and contact points with the process medium.
