What Is a Sign Vise?

A sign vise is a type of machine vise. A machine vise is a tool used to secure materials on a machine tool table so that they do not move when machining. Its structure is similar to a vise, and it holds the material in place by pressing down at two points.

A sign vise is a tool that can be inclined at a specified angle to hold the material in place. This inclination angle ranges from 1 to 45 degrees and can be freely set by the operator.

Uses of Sign Vises

Sign vises and other machine vises are necessary for various machining processes using machine tools, such as milling, drilling, grinding (surface grinding), and grinding machine processes. Since these machining processes are performed using motorized machines, it is important to hold the material securely so that it does not move during the machining process. This tool is mainly used to secure rectangular materials.

Since the sign vise can be changed to various angles according to requirements, it is also suitable for processing small items with precisely defined angles.

Principle of Sign Vises

Sign vises that are hardened to minimize deterioration and change over time are also available. Also available are those designed to be less prone to abrasion and angle changes during processing. Some sign vises use a trigonometric function table in order to use accurate angles. If you want to process with a strictly defined angle, it is important to use such a trigonometric function table, to confirm in advance how to calculate the appropriate angle for the product, and to fix the material securely to be processed so that it does not move even when it is angled and inclined.
