Cloth Wallpaper

What Is Cloth Wallpaper?

Cloth wallpaper consists of a textile base with a paper backing. Instead of directly attaching the cloth to the wall, the paper-backed cloth is applied. This type of wallpaper is also known as “woven wallpaper,” “cloth,” or “textile.”

Various materials, including cotton, linen, pulp, rayon, silk, and satin, are used in cloth wallpaper. Depending on the weave and processing method, it comes in different styles such as plain weave, twill weave, vermillion weave, non-woven, and planted wallpaper.

Compared to more common vinyl cloth wallpaper, cloth wallpaper offers a simpler, more luxurious look with humidity regulation benefits. It is durable and doesn’t easily tear, reducing the risk of sick building syndrome. However, it is more expensive than vinyl, offers fewer design options, is less fireproof, and can be challenging to clean.

Uses of Cloth Wallpaper

Cloth wallpaper is popular in various building types, including residential homes, both for new construction and renovation. Made from natural materials like cotton and linen, it enhances air permeability and humidity control, creating comfortable environments even in summer.

Its ability to foster a calm atmosphere makes it ideal for bedrooms and living rooms. The luxurious and dignified feel of cloth wallpaper also lends itself well to spaces like museums, hotels, and wedding halls, where it contributes to an elegant and serene ambiance.
