Radiant Heater

What Is a Radiant Heater?

Radiant Heaters are a type of large heater that use infrared rays. These heaters basically use infrared rays, making them suitable for heating large spaces and places far from where the heater is installed.

Unlike hot-air jet heaters, these heaters are particularly quiet during operation and are therefore often used to heat entire event halls and gymnasiums for school events during the winter.

Applications of Radiant Heaters

Radiant Heaters are similar in use to household heaters, except that they are large in size, and are usually used to warm large groups of users in large areas such as gymnasiums.

On the other hand, hot-air jet heaters are heated not by infrared rays but by direct application of hot air and are often used for drying work at construction sites or in agricultural work, etc., thus having different purposes and uses.

However, there are also many Radiant Heaters with built-in circulators, which can be expected to push air heated by infrared rays forward.

Principle of Radiant Heaters

Far-infrared rays are electromagnetic waves with wavelengths ranging from 3um to 1mm. The wavelengths of far-infrared rays match the frequency of molecular vibration of human skin, so they are well absorbed by the surface of the human body. At this time, the heat is absorbed by the capillaries of the human body and efficiently propagated through the blood vessels. This heating process is often described as “warming the body to the core.”

Infrared heaters not only deliver heat directly to the body to warm it, but also gradually warm the air in the entire room as the air in direct contact with the heater rises in temperature through thermal conduction, resulting in convection currents in the air.

Radiant Heaters, especially those with built-in circulators, can warm the air in the entire room more effectively due to the convection of heat generated by the circulator, in addition to the aforementioned effect of air heat conduction. The heater efficiently uses various methods of heat propagation, such as heat radiation, heat conduction, and heat convection.

Radiant heaters are generally fueled by kerosene.
