Vibration Switch

What Is a Vibration Switch?

A vibration switch is an electronic device designed to detect vibrations and convert them into an electrical signal. It operates by sensing the voltage generated as a result of vibration-induced deformation. When this voltage surpasses a predetermined threshold, the switch activates, signaling the presence of vibration through an electrical output.

These switches come in two main varieties: mechanical and capacitive. The mechanical type, which connects the vibrating and detection elements mechanically, is noted for its widespread application. On the other hand, the capacitive type is prized for its high precision and durability, making it ideal for harsh conditions and exacting measurement needs.

Key uses of vibration switches include monitoring machinery and structural integrity for anomalies, facilitating automation control, and enhancing security measures. By promptly detecting vibrations, they help in averting equipment failures, automating control processes, and identifying unauthorized access or actions.
