What Is a Ceramic Fiber Blanket?
A ceramic fiber blanket is a product made by weaving ceramic fibers into a fibrous form.
It finds widespread use across various industries due to its outstanding heat resistance and insulation capabilities. The operating principle relies on ceramic fibers absorbing heat and inhibiting heat conduction. In manufacturing, it is employed to protect workers during high-temperature processes, in construction for thermal insulation from high-temperature furnaces and kilns, and in environmental applications for heat recovery and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Its structure comprises ceramic fibers bonded with adhesive, making it lightweight and easy to handle, while still exhibiting a heat resistance exceeding 1000°C.
The advantages of ceramic fiber blankets include excellent heat resistance, insulation properties, and their lightweight nature. However, they can be relatively costly, and they risk damage if exposed to temperatures exceeding their heat resistance threshold.
