Hydrocyclone

What Is a Hydrocyclone?

A hydrocyclone is a device designed for separating solid particles and liquid droplets within a fluid.

The device features an inlet, a cone section, and a separation section. As fluid enters through the inlet and travels into the cone section, it spirals along the cone’s wall. This movement causes solid particles and liquid droplets within the fluid to be propelled against the cone wall by inertia, accumulating in the separation section. These separated components are then discharged from the bottom of the separation section.

Hydrocyclones are valued for their simple design, which facilitates easy maintenance and allows for cost-effective manufacturing. Their versatility across a wide range of fluids makes them a popular choice in diverse industries, including mining, the chemical sector, food processing, and wastewater treatment.
