전기공학적인 효과를 이용하여 정확한 측정과 평가를 할 수 있습니다. 특징으로는 전기장을 방해하지 않는 광섬유의 비침습성, 노이즈가 발생하지 않는 점, 센서 헤드가 작고 전원이 필요 없는 점, 주파수, 위상, 강도 등 측정할 수 있는 정보가 풍부한 점, 주변에 금속이 있어도 간섭이 발생하지 않는 점 등을 들 수 있습니다.

광 프로브의 사용 용도

광 프로브는 컨트롤러, 오실로스코프, 내시경 등에도 사용된다. 또한, 광학적인 수단을 이용하여 조사나 분석을 목적으로 다양한 정보를 측정할 수 있습니다.

측정 용도로는 다음과 같은 것들이 있습니다.

1. 비흡수율(SAR) 측정

100kHz 이상의 주파수의 전자파를 인체에 노출시켰을 때 인체가 흡수하는 에너지의 양을 측정하는 것을 말한다. 측정은 표준을 기준으로 하며, 인체와 동일한 전기적 특성을 가진 팬텀(Phantom)을 대상으로 측정해야 합니다다.

1. 포켈스 효과

전계 프로브는 포켈스 효과를 갖는 EO 결정을 헤드 부분에 사용합니다. 포켈스 효과란 물질에 외부에서 전압이 인가될 때 물질 내의 분극률이 변화하여 물질의 굴절률이 변화하는 현상입니다.

전계가 인가되지 않았을 때, EO 결정에 입사된 빛은 편광 상태를 유지한 채로 반사됩니다. 하지만 전기장이 인가된 상태가 되면 EO 결정의 굴절률이 변하기 때문에 입사한 빛의 편광상태가 변하여 되돌아오게 됩니다.

편광 상태의 빛의 강도를 분석기로 측정하면 전계 강도에 비례하는 신호를 얻을 수 있습니다.

2. 측정 대상 전계에 미치는 영향

전계 프로브에는 다이폴 안테나가 사용되기도 하지만, 광 프로브에는 사용되지 않습니다. 다이폴 안테나는 케이블 끝에 두 개의 직선형 도선이 있는 구조로, 금속 소자로 이루어져 있다. 따라서 전계 프로브의 산란으로 인해 전파에 교란을 일으킵니다.

광 프로브에서는 다이폴 안테나 등 대신 센서부에 크리스탈을 사용함으로써 측정 대상 전계에 영향을 주지 않고 측정할 수 있습니다.

광 프로브의 구성

팁 부분을 구성하는 부품은 EO 결정 외에 광섬유, 페룰, 콜리메이터 렌즈, 유전체 반사막 등이 있습니다.

1. EO 결정체

EO 결정은 1mm 각도로 구성되어 있습니다. 다이폴 안테나를 사용한 전계 프로브의 안테나 길이가 수 cm ~ 10 수 cm인 것을 감안하면 작은 구조이기 때문에 미세한 부위 측정이 가능합니다.

2. 광섬유

EO 결정에서 콜리메이터 렌즈와 페룰을 통해 광섬유가 연결되어 있습니다. 광 프로브가 노이즈의 영향을 받지 않는 것은 광섬유로 신호를 전송하기 때문입니다.

이를 통해 주파수에 의존하지 않고 전압 신호를 광 신호로 변환하여 장거리 전송을 할 수 있습니다.

3. 유전체 반사막

유전체 반사막은 EO 결정의 끝에 부착되어 있습니다. 전계 측정 시, 광원에서 생성된 직선 편광을 EO 결정에 입사시켜 유전체 반사막에서 반사되어 되돌아오는 빛을 측정합니다.

광 프로브에서 반사된 빛은 포토다이오드에서 전기 신호로 변환하여 차동 증폭기로 증폭 출력합니다. 출력 전기 신호는 편광 변화에 비례합니다.

스펙트럼 분석기 등을 사용하여 전기장의 세기와 위상을 계산합니다.
