What Is a Safety Shower?
A safety shower, or “safety eyewash,” is a facility used for emergency body cleansing in situations where individuals are exposed to chemicals or hazardous substances, or in the event of an accident.
Typically installed in laboratories, industrial facilities, and specific manufacturing sites, safety showers provide a rush of water to enable rapid cleansing and removal of chemicals or hazardous substances that may come into contact with the body. As such, they need to be positioned for quick access in the event of an accident.
Safety showers typically consist of a special showerhead mounted on a wall, combined with a floor that allows for drainage at the feet. This configuration ensures that a rush of water can cover the entire body evenly, facilitating rapid cleansing.
