What Is a Filter Media?
Filter media are materials or devices used in filtration and separation processes.
They capture impurities in liquids or gases, allowing clean fluid to pass through. They are primarily used in fields such as water treatment, air purification, chemical processes, and healthcare.
There are various types of filter media, including fiber filter media, which uses fibrous materials to capture fine particles; particle filter media, which utilizes particulate materials to remove foreign matter; and membrane filter media, which uses thin film materials to prevent the passage of fine particles and bacteria. Additionally, there are activated carbon, which adsorbs specific gases or chemicals, and ceramic filter media, which are resistant to high temperatures and corrosion.
