What Is a Flow Limiter?
A flow limiter is a device designed to control the flow of gases or fluids.
In industrial applications, it is primarily used for controlling the flow of gases. There are various types, including those using pistons and those employing resistance during passage through irregularities or narrow sections. However, the most common mechanism involves reducing the flow by passing it through a valve with a smaller opening on one side.
Flow limiters are utilized not only for controlling gas supply and achieving uniform flow but also for flow control in hydraulic fluids in hydraulic equipment, cooling water in cooling systems, and heating media in heating processes. As these components come into prolonged contact with fluids or gases, they are typically constructed from materials with high wear resistance and chemical resistance, such as metals or ceramics.
