What Is MOSFET?

MOSFETs are semiconductor devices widely used for amplifying electrical signals and executing switching functions. The acronym MOSFET stands for metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor, which describes its unique three-layer structure comprising metal, oxide, and semiconductor materials.

A key feature of MOSFETs are their ability to control the conductivity of a channel through the gate voltage. This capability makes them extremely useful as switching elements in integrated circuits and digital circuits. Additionally, MOSFETs exhibit very high resistance at the gate, offering reduced susceptibility to external circuit influences. They are also characterized by their low power consumption when voltage is applied to the gate, which is a significant advantage in various applications.
