What Is a Wine Filter?
A wine filter is used in the filtration process of wine.
These filters not only enhance the clarity of wine but also remove solid particles, such as proteins, and microorganisms like yeast. Wine filters can be employed at various stages, from before to after fermentation, up until bottling. Their use is optional and depends on the winemaker’s preference and production style.
There are two primary types of wine filters: depth filters and membrane filters. Depth filters trap the removed substances within the filter, while membrane filters capture them on the filter’s surface.
