What Is a Drum Heater?
A drum heater is an electric device designed to externally heat drum containers.
Drum heaters come in various designs, including side-heating and bottom-heating types. They are used to melt or reduce the viscosity of substances like asphalt, oil, paint, and chocolate, and to prevent freezing.
Emphasizing safety, many drum heaters are equipped with features such as thermostats, digital temperature controllers, automatic high-temperature shutoff circuits, and grounding mechanisms. These heaters are designed to fit snugly onto drum containers for efficient heating.
While the suitability of drum containers for heating varies with the product, common materials include steel and ferritic stainless steel, a type of magnetic material.
