What Is a Flow Transmitter?
Flow transmitters, commonly used in manufacturing to monitor production lines, in the energy industry for oil and gas, and in environmental applications for water and air, measure fluid flow. They offer remote monitoring and control, high measurement accuracy, and adaptability to different fluids.
Two main operating principles are differential pressure (DP) and ultrasonic. DP transmitters calculate flow by measuring fluid pressure differences, while ultrasonic transmitters use changes in ultrasonic wave velocities. Selection should be based on fluid characteristics, installation location, and environmental factors.
